The Problem with Having a ‘Growth Mindset’

A recent Education Week blog post entitled “The Problem with Having a Growth Mindset” discussed some of the challenges schools and teachers are experiencing in trying to connect Carol Dweck’s work around mindsets to effective classroom practices. These challenges make clear the need for a Mastery Learning and Grading framework that moves the idea of a growth mindset in the classroom beyond just having students try harder.

    Growth Mindset – It shows how important it is for us teachers to change our mindset so we can make a difference in our students’ growth mindset. Our students deserve the best education coupled with the best practices we can give them. They must be implemented everyday and done correctly.
